Is there a way to configure Aastra 6730i to work with voiper.ipkall.com for dialling Toll Free Numbers?
I’ve created Line 4 with voiper.ipkall.com as Outbound Proxy Server, and assigned Programmable Key 4 to be of Type “Line” and on Line “4”. From there, I expected everything to just work; however, it doesn’t.
I have the impression that the stupid Aastra can’t use the line unless it’s “Registered”, and Line 4 shows as being “Unregistered”. I tried changing the Programmable Key 4 from Type “Line” to Type “Quickdial”, Value “8005551212@voiper.ipkall.com”, and it only works if I set the Line to “1” or “2” (OnSIP), or “3” (IPComms), but not “4” (IPKall), further proving that Line 4 doesn’t work, whereas placing calls to “8005551212@voiper.ipkall.com” on other lines with the free OnSIP and IPComms registrations does work perfectly.
You would think that the issue could be resolved with dialling @voiper.ipkall.com numbers through the Quickdial functionality, by having a key with an “@voiper.ipkall.com” postfix. The Quickdial functionality does in fact has a notion of “Prefix”, but doesn’t have any notions of postfix or terminating string / domain, so, it doesn’t seem to be possible to simply have a Quickdial rule for appending “@voiper.ipkall.com” to the phone numbers one wants to dial.
I’ve even went as far as creating a separate OnSIP account specifically for IPKall TFN, and provisioning Line 4 with the said OnSIP account, with Outbound Proxy Server still set to voiper.ipkall.com, but it still didn’t work either, giving out some 40x error immediately after restarting the phone, where I presume it tries to use the OnSIP credentials to authenticate with IPKall during the registration phase of the restart.
So, anyone knows how to make Aastra work here?
I’ve narrowed down the problems to which I seek the solution to the following two self-contained questions:
Are there any [fake] [generic] authentication credentials that would allow one to successfully register with voiper.ipkall.com?
Or, better yet, is there any way to specify a postfix (or domain name) for Quickdial on Aastra, not just a Prefix? The documentation only mentions the Quickdial Prefix, e.g. “1408555+”, but nothing about having a Postfix. I’ve tried having a Quickdial rule with “+@voiper.ipkall.com” and Line 1/2/3, but it doesn’t work.
Notwithstanding the above, apparently, the Troubleshooting tab within Aastra doesn’t actually let you take a look at any of the SIP error messages, so, you’re left completely in the dark of what exactly is going on, or which specific steps of the setup are failing. How nice of Aastra, eh?
